French Islands
The Caribbean Sea is a magical region where you can find lots of islands and countries, each one of them with a unique heritage and with extremely rich cultures that are the result of the traditions of several communities and that can not be found any where else.
Both Martinique and Guadeloupe are located in the east region of the Caribbean and they form alongside lots of other small islands the group that is known as the Lesser Antilles and among which we can also find islands such as Aruba, Barbuda, Antigua, Trinidad, Tobago and many others. Both of these islands, Martinique and Guadeloupe are French overseas dependencies and are considered to be part of the French Republic, as well as part of the European Union. While Martinique’s capital city is Fort-de-France, Guadeloupe’s is Basse-Terre.
Let’s begin by talking more specifically about Martinique and then we will continue with the island of Guadeloupe. Martinique is definitely one of the most famous islands of the Caribbean region and this is due to the amazing beaches and landscapes that visitors from all around the world find when they arrive in this island. With a tropical and humid weather that may sometimes include hurricanes and cyclones, Martinique is definitely a paradisiacal island.
Apart from its capital city, there are some other interesting cities such as Marigot, Saint Pierre, La Trinité, Le Robert, Rivière Salée, Le Marin and Le Vauclin. These cities are adorable places where you can get in real contact with this island’s native people and traditions. The towns of Macouba and Balata are perfect excursions if you want to learn about Martinique’s history and past since they offer a beautiful sightseeing of what this island used to be like.
On its side, Guadeloupe is another great French Caribbean Island. It consists of three major islands and a group of smaller islands. Divided into at least eight regions, Guadeloupe has beautiful cities and towns that are ideal to discover the magic and uniqueness that lies on this place. Some of those cities are Vieux Fort, Bouillante, Morne Rouge, Bananier, Trois Rivières and St Anne among some others. All of these cities are ready to welcome any visitor or foreigner and to offer their best attention and help. Guadeloupe has a climate which can be considered quite similar to the one on Martinique and this means sunny days and gorgeous nights.
There is no doubt that when it comes to style and refinement in the Caribbean region you must go to these islands because they are like living in paradise but with all the French glamour and traditions. They are great destinations for any trip, so if you are willing to travel, you definitely have to give these islands a chance.
