Florida Travel Information
The state of Florida is located in the southeastern region of the United States. It is one of the states that receives the most tourists and has many options to offer them while they stay there. This state shares its borders with the states of Georgia and Alabama, while on its western side it is limited by the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, and on its eastern side by the Gulf of Mexico. In general terms, Florida has a subtropical climate with dry winters and hot and wet summers.
The peninsula of Florida is almost completely surrounded by water and therefore, tourists are able to enjoy many major or minor islands where beaches are amazing.
First of all, you have the islands of Sanibel, Captiva and Pine Island. They are located near Fort Myers in Lee County, and are connected to mainland through a highly developed causeway that also crosses them almost completely. The island of Sanibel is famous for its wonderful shell beaches where lots of different types of seashells are to be found. They have fabulous beaches but also amazing places to enjoy such as shell museums, the Periwinkle place shops, the J. N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refugee and the Lighthouse and Park Beach. Captiva also has a beautiful and cute village to enjoy together.
In Manatee County you can also find amazing beaches and islands that such as the ones we have just mentioned are barrier islands that form bays between them and the mainland. Longboat Key, Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach and Anna Maria are totally fantastic places to enjoy there and you can always enter mainland easily due to the causeway connection. These islands and beaches offer you a wide variety of aquatic sports such as parachuting, boating, sailing, etc, plus a highly interesting nightlife.
Finally, in the most southern region of Florida you find a big island, the Key West Island that comprises many keys across its territories. This island has interesting places to visit such as the Ernest Hemingway House, a Naval Air Station, the port, but you can also enjoy the Key West Botanical Forest and Garden, the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum, Key West Lighthouse and Duval Street where you will find a huge variety of restaurants and cafes. Key West beaches are also amazing to spend all day long.
Visiting Florida islands is one of the best ideas you can follow when choosing a honeymoon destination. You can visit many of them since they are really accessible and extremely beautiful.
