As you probably can imagine, there are many railway routes and train companies in the spectacular Chinese territory since it is the most popular and common transportation method in the country. Many of the Chinese train routes depart from the capital city of Beijing. One of the most important ones connects Beijing with Shanghai and it stops at cities like Tianjin, Jinan, Nanjing and Suzhou among others. Other important route departs from Beijing and goes south till Kowloon, right in the southeastern coast. The Jingguang Line connects Beijing to Guangzhou and features stops at cities like Shijia-zhuang, Zhengzhou, Wuchang and Changsha. Finally, one of the most important routes that departs from Beijing and arrives to Shenyang.

If you want to travel through larger parts of China, you can easily make a train combination and take the Jingguang Line from Beijing up to Zhengzhou and there take the Longhai Line to the west. This line reaches up to Lhasa in the southwestern area of China. But if you want to go further you can stop at the Lanzhou station of the Jingguang Line and take the Lanxin Line which crosses the entire country to the west and that reaches up to the border with Kazakhstan.
